7. Paradise @ Koh Ru or Bamboo Island

Chasing the good life, or a great holiday location. $5 a night "Bungalows" (no ensuite bath/toilet) on an Island (no cars, TV, internet, phones, aircon, touts), one hour $5 one-way boat ride away on slim, wooden express boat (no life jackets) from Sihanoukville, five hour drive on express coach from Phnom Penh (no flights YET). Fresh air, sunshine, clear waters, clean soft sands that squeeks as you walk on them, good food and friendly international staff/travellers run by an Englishman. Definitely better than Koh Samui of 1987!
